Orientation

With summer just around the corner, the time to finalize your enrollment at DelVal begins. From now through August, we will reach out weekly to provide guidance, information, and support about being a new student at DelVal. We will cover many topics including: new student orientation, financial aid, paying your bill (Bursar), course registration (Registrar), and housing to name a few!

Our first topic is New Student Orientation! Orientation at DelVal is designed specifically to connect you with the staff, students, and faculty who make DelVal an exemplary small, private, teaching University.

Online Orientation: Through online orientation, you will learn more about the University and the programs and services that support your transition to being a DelVal student. Please use the link to login into the mandatory Online Orientation system and begin the orientation.

Online Orientation: www.studentlingo.com/delval A few notes before you start:

• You will use your DelVal username and password to enter the site. Your DelVal username and password were sent via email by Technology Services.
• Once logged into the site, click on the box titled “New Student Orientation” to begin.
• The orientation can be completed over multiple sessions. It does not need to be completed in one sitting. Be sure to view each page to review content, videos, and links.
• You have access to the online orientation over the course of the summer. Be sure to revisit the site as needed to prepare yourself for the start of the semester.
• The system works best when accessed from a desktop, laptop, or tablet. The system can be accessed from a smart phone but will be challenging to navigate.

Please complete the online orientation by Friday, June 26, 2026

In-Person Orientation: If you'd like to meet other new students, explore the campus, and enhance the online orientation, then join us for one of our three in-person summer orientation sessions! These events are your chance to dive deeper into what it's like to be a DelVal student, ask questions, and connect with your fellow Aggies. Don’t worry, everything covered during these sessions is already part of the online orientation, so it's all about the in-person experience and getting you even more excited (and ready) for the fall! DelVal offers rigorous curricula grounded in a commitment to applied and experiential learning. Part of a DelVal education is based in Mathematics and English courses that provide a foundation for student success. Students are placed in Mathematics and English courses based on SAT and ACT test scores, high school GPA, or the results of placement testing. Mathematics Diagnostic Assessment: All incoming students will be placed in a mathematics course based on standardized test scores or an online placement exam. If you did not submit SAT or ACT scores, or you wish to bypass a lower-level math course, you must take the math placement test. It is important that you complete the Math Placement Exam as soon as possible. 

• Enroll in the Math Placement Test at this link: https://delval.instructure.com/enroll/7AYM66. 
• If you do not take the math placement test and you did not submit SAT or ACT scores, you will be placed in Fundamentals of Algebra, a developmental math course that prepares students or College Algebra but does not count towards graduation requirements. 

English Diagnostic Assessment: All students will be enrolled in a 3-credit College Writing I section (the first college-level required writing course). However, those students who are identified as needing extra support will also be co-enrolled in a 1-credit College Writing I companion course, College Writing I Corequisite. The corequisite course will meet two hours a week and will be taught by the same instructor. The sole purpose of the corequisite course is to support success in College Writing I. Students who do not meet the following criteria will be assigned to a corequisite College.

Writing I section:

• Score of 480 or higher on the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing exam (EBRW)
• Score of 18 or above on the ACT English Language Arts exam (ELA)
• Overall high school GPA of 2.6 or above

Exceptions are as follows:

• Students who have received transfer credits in English Composition
• Students who have received a score of 3 or better on the AP English exam

With the official start of summer almost here, sending a reminder about the Online Orientation and the Enrollment Checklist. Online Orientation: If you have not completed the orientation, please do so as soon as possible as the mandatory online orientation has key information to prepare you for your first semester at DelVal. • The system can be accessed from a smart phone but will be challenging to navigate. If you have completed the orientation, remember that you can access the content all summer should you need a refresher as you prepare to start your first semester at DelVal.

Enrollment Checklist: The Enrollment Checklist, found at this link: Enrollment Checklist, provides an overview of steps to be taken prior to the start of the semester. Now is a good time to familiarize yourself, and your family, with the checklist. We will share more information about the checklist over the course of the summer including the individual items you need to complete.

The Office of the Registrar and the Office of Student Support provide students with services designed to assist them in attaining their academic goals. The Office of the Registrar implements and enforces the University's academic policies. The Office of Student Support tracks, monitors, and reports on student academic performance and engagement, providing individualized information to students on academic resources and strategies for persistence, progression, and completion

Your Fall 2026 Course Schedule:

First-time freshmen will have your schedule built for you. First-Time Freshmen schedules will be completed the week of July 20, 2026. You may see your schedule being built during June and July, but please note that schedules are not finalized until the week of July 20.

Transfer students will work with your Department Chair, the Office of the Registrar, and the Office of Student Support to build your schedule.

How we build your Schedule: Many elements are needed to create a course schedule. The items below are actions we need you to take to help us build an accurate schedule in a timely manner. Some may not apply to you, but please review the list below:

Official Advanced Placement Score Reports: Please request an official AP Score Report to be sent from College Board to Delaware Valley University, Office of the Registrar.

The University receives these from the College Board in mid-July and will update schedules once an official report is received.

Dual Enrollment & Transfer Courses: Please have an official transcript sent directly from the college/university (through Parchment or the National Student Clearinghouse) to Delaware Valley University, Office of the Registrar, or a hard copy in a sealed envelope to Delaware Valley University, Office of the Registrar, 700 E. Butler Ave., Doylestown, PA 18901.

Only credits for courses in which a grade of “C” or better has been earned are accepted for transfer and only the credits (not the grades) are transferred.

Math Placement: There is still time to take the Math Placement test if you have not done so already.

It is important that you share any information related to Advancement Placement Tests, Dual Enrollment, and Transfer Credit as soon as possible as this impacts how your course schedule is built. Information received after July 31 may not be used to build your Fall 2026 course schedule.

As we move closer to the start of the fall semester, important information from campus departments will be sent to your DelVal email only. Moving forward, check your DelVal email at least once a week. The University utilizes @delval.edu email accounts as the official mode of communication between the University and students. As a reminder, your username and password were sent via email by Technology Services. The email is from either [email protected] or noreply@delval.edu. If a search of the email you used for admission to DelVal does not turn up that communication, contact the Help Desk at 215-489-4357 (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays) and they will work with you to access your account. Please reach out as you have questions about the online orientation.

How you decide to finance your Delaware Valley University degree is a big decision. There are many tools available to assist you. Remember to review and complete items related to billing and financial aid on the New Student Enrollment Checklist. A key component to your success is making arrangements for all your enrollment obligations for the fall term. Acting now allows you to focus on your studies from day one of the fall semester.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 16, you will receive an email with the items from the New Student Enrollment Checklist that you need to complete before July 31 to avoid late fees on your student account. Be sure to review the information sent in that email thoroughly as it will be individualized to actions that you need to complete.
